History

Qinhuangdao Foreign Language Professional College has a history of over 100 years and traces its origins back to 1906 when it was known as the Funing Teachers School. It weathered the storms and bumpy roads of the 20th century, and then in the year 2002, it leapt from being a teaching school, to become a foreign language professional college.

Location

When established in 1906, Funing Teachers School was located at Sanguan Temple in Funing town, the capital of Funing county. In 1949, it was moved to Taihezhai and renamed as Linfu Teachers School. It remained there for 45 years and in 1994 was moved again to Nandaihe, a famous sight-seeing location adjacent to Beidaihe, which is known as China’s summer capital. Qinhuangdao Foreign Language Professional College occupies an area of 35 hectares of land and has idyllic surroundings, with the Daihe River bordering the school to the north, and the Bohai Sea lying to the south. In order to meet the demands of an ever-increasing number of students, the college is in the middle of expanding. When finished, the college buildings will occupy an area of 180,000 square meters.

Enrollment

Currently there are more than 6000 students from more than 20 provinces of China studying at the college. Students enrollment was growing steadily in the last few years. The figures of students in from 2002 to 2006 are as the follows:
