Why work at QFLPC

Qinhuangdao Foreign Language Professional College is a great place to come and live and work. It is situated on the north coast of China in the town of Nandaihe, which a small town located just to the south of Beidaihe – China’s summer capital. The school itself is only several hundred metres away from the beach and the coastal environment and small town atmosphere allow you to escape the hustle and bustle of big city life, and experience a different side of China. At the same time it is near enough to larger cities that you will not feel isolated, and Beijing is close enough to make weekend trips if you so desire.

In addition to its location, being a foreign language college, QFLPC is full of enthusiastic students who want to learn English (or one of the several other languages the school has on offer) rather than students who are only learning English because it is compulsory. This makes a huge difference when teaching, as the majority of students are motivated and interested in learning English. Students have a basic grasp of English fundamentals, so you are able to communicate with them fairly easily, and can do a wide range of activities in class.

The college staff are also friendly, and in addition to the Chinese teachers, there are a large number of foreign teachers, comprising a diverse range of countries, backgrounds, cultures and ages, and providing instruction in 6 different languages.

Remuneration is competitive with similar class Chinese institutions, and although it might seem considerably lower than the equivalent in your home country, it is extremely high by local standards, and when combined with the relatively small number of working hours, it affords foreign teachers a very comfortable lifestyle.

All in all, this makes QFLPC a fun and rewarding place to come and teach English.
