A Day Trip To The Eastern Qing Tombs

October 20, 2007

On October 20, 2007, the Department of Foreign Affairs organized a trip for our foreign teachers and international students to the National AAAA World Cultural Heritage Site—-Eastern Qing Tombs.

The teachers and students arrived the Eastern Qing Tombs after a four-hour bus ride. First, they visited Yu Ling which is Qian Long’s tomb. They enjoyed the extraordinary and exquisite imperial mausoleum. After finishing lunch in a local restaurant, the tour guide led them to Yu Fei Tomb, as well as the Xiang Fei Tomb and her associated the folk tale: she was born to have preternatural fragrance. It was not a flower or pollen fragrance, but a special fragrance that makes you feel refreshing.Next, they arrived at the most essential place—-the Main Hall of Ding Eastern Tomb. The teachers and students were full of praise after seeing the classics of the golden wall, the gilded pictures, the gold-filled dragon and the fancy stone-carving. We all took a picture together here to remember this nice trip.

At around four o’clock, everyone boarded the bus for the return trip. Even though they had been walking for the whole day, we still could not see any tiredness during the bus ride. One by one they kept singing songs and along with the laughter of everyone. There was a feeling of one big, happy family.

At around seven-thirty, all the staff arrived safely at the college.
